We are looking for a maintenance assistant to work for a hospice in the Birmingham area.
Job Description:
- To assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Hospice
- Basic building maintenance, redecoration and engineering repairs, including use of powered machinery and hand tools
- Assess work and material required, sourcing and advise of costs and requirements.
- To assist planned preventative maintenance operations
- To complete fire alarm testing and water temperature checks
- To check fire extinguishers and other health and safety aspects of the schools
- Ensuring all relevant paperwork and checks are kept up to date and accurate
- Carry out minor plumbing, internal and external drainage, and the removal of blockages
- Assist with the medical gas system management
- General portering duties including furniture and equipment removal on and off the premises
- Assist in managing and supporting the maintenance volunteers
- To provide maintenance support to Hospice events as required.
- Liaising with contractors and escorting them around site
- To complete any other duties as instructed by the facilities manager
Requirements:
- Previous experience is required as a maintenance/site assistant - with experience in basic plumbing, use of power tools and general building maintenance
- Holds an ENHANCED Child DBS in date within the last 12 months, or an ENHANCED DBS on the update service.
- Must have safeguarding training - BlueArrow can provide this if required
- Must hold a full, clean UK driving license
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-3pm
Pay: £13 per hour
