Location: Sudbury, Derbyshire
Pay Rate: £17.00 - £18.50 per hour
Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm
- Friday: 7:00am - 3:00pm
The Opportunity
Blue Arrow is recruiting on behalf of a growing and successful client based in Sudbury, Derbyshire for an experienced MIG Welder.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled welder looking to join a supportive and hardworking team. The role will involve refurbishing, repairing, and welding scaffolding materials and components within a busy manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in ensuring scaffolding equipment is restored to a high standard, safe for use, and meets all required quality specifications.
While experience welding aluminium is preferred, it is not essential. We are keen to hear from candidates with strong MIG welding experience and a positive attitude towards learning and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out MIG welding on scaffolding materials and metal components to a high standard.
- Refurbish, repair, and modify scaffolding equipment for reuse.
- Inspect returned scaffolding materials and identify defects or damage.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Work closely with production and fabrication teams to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Follow all health and safety procedures within the workshop.
- Assist with general warehouse and production duties when welding work is not required.
- Use hand tools and workshop machinery to support refurbishment and manufacturing operations.
- Load, move, and organise materials within the workshop.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous MIG welding experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication environment.
- Experience working with steel or metal components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using hand tools and workshop machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking, and flexible with a positive attitude.
Desirable
- Experience welding aluminium.
- Relevant welding qualifications or certifications.
- Previous experience refurbishing scaffolding materials, structural steel, or fabrication projects.
Important
- Due to the rural location of the site in Sudbury, own transport is essential, as public transport links are limited and may not support commuting requirements.
- Candidates must be willing to undertake general warehouse, production, hand tool, and machinery-related duties when welding work is not available.
- Flexibility to support other areas of the operation is required.
