School Minibus Driver
Salary: £24,000 to £27,000
Location - Newbury
Part‑time | Term‑time only
An independent preparatory day school in Hampshire is seeking a reliable and experienced Minibus Driver to support pupil transport during term time.
Role Summary
The postholder will be responsible for the safe and punctual transportation of pupils on scheduled morning routes, with additional driving duties for sports fixtures, enrichment activities, and school events as required. The role requires a professional, calm approach and a strong focus on safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a school minibus on designated routes, ensuring safe and timely collection and drop‑off of pupils
- Maintain a calm, welcoming, and orderly environment for pupils
- Provide transport for fixtures, activities, and events as required
- Communicate appropriately with school staff and parents regarding transport arrangements
- Supervise pupils and manage behaviour in line with school expectations
- Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any issues promptly
- Keep the vehicle clean, safe, and roadworthy
- Comply with road traffic legislation, safeguarding requirements, and internal procedures
- Report all incidents or concerns in accordance with policy
Person Specification
Essential
- Full UK driving licence with D1 entitlement and CPC qualification
- Experience driving a minibus or similar vehicle
- Strong commitment to safety and safeguarding
- Reliable, punctual, and well‑organised
- Confident communicator able to work independently
Desirable
- Experience working with children
- First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training
Working Pattern
- Morning routes: Monday to Friday (term time)
- Afternoons: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Additional hours may be required occasionally
