Mobile Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Truro & surrounding Cornwall area

Contract: 3‑month temporary assignment with a view to permanent employment

Overview

We are recruiting a Mobile Electrical Maintenance Engineer to support commercial sites across Truro and the wider Cornwall region. This role is primarily focused on electrical building services maintenance, covering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fault‑finding. You will ensure electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational while delivering a professional, customer‑focused service.

This is a 3‑month temp‑to‑perm opportunity, offering long‑term stability for the right engineer.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Compliance

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance on electrical building services equipment, including lighting, emergency lighting, distribution boards, motors, and control systems.

• Respond to reactive electrical faults, diagnose issues, and complete repairs efficiently.

• Carry out electrical testing and inspection in line with current regulations.

• Update the CAFM system with accurate job notes, test results, and completion details.

• Ensure all electrical work complies with 18th Edition standards and internal safety procedures.

• Prepare and follow Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all electrical tasks.

• Support statutory compliance activities such as:

  • Emergency lighting testing

  • Fire alarm testing

  • Portable appliance testing (if required)

Additional Duties

• Participate in an out‑of‑hours call‑out rota to support essential services.

• Produce clear and accurate reports, including condition surveys and recommendations for remedial works.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Electrical Qualifications

• 18th Edition (C&G 2382‑18)

• C&G 2391 / 2394 / 2395 (Inspection & Testing) Desireable

Desirable

• Experience in commercial building maintenance.

• Knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, pumps, valves) beneficial but not essential.

• Competent Person status for electrical systems (or willingness to work towards it).

• Full UK driving licence.
