Contract: 6‑Month Assignment +

About the Role:

As part of our Community Equipment Service, you'll be working across Portsmouth and the surrounding area, carrying out maintenance, safety checks, repairs, and installations of essential mobility and care equipment.

You'll be supporting people who rely on items such as:

  • mobility aids
  • profiling beds
  • hoists
  • pressure‑care equipment
  • daily‑living adaptations

Your work ensures this equipment operates safely and remains in top condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical, hydraulic, hoist and lifting equipment in the community.
  • Complete pre‑delivery inspections and deliver, install, or collect equipment from service users' homes.
  • Scan and quarantine returned items following correct procedures.
  • Undertake equipment repairs, fitting, adjustments, and minor installations (e.g., grab rails, rails).
  • Assist with annual stock audits and warehouse support tasks when required.
  • Maintain accurate service and safety records in line with training and legislation.

About You:

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Practical, hands‑on, and confident working with tools and mechanical systems.
  • Experienced in repairs, maintenance, engineering, or equipment servicing (preferred).
  • Customer‑focused, approachable, and able to support vulnerable individuals professionally.
  • Comfortable lifting, moving, and handling equipment.
  • A confident driver with a Clean UK Class B Driving Licence (minimum 3 years).
  • Able to work flexibly - this role includes participation in an on‑call rota.
  • A team player who can also work independently when out on community visits.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Qualification in engineering, electronics, mechanical work, or a related discipline.
  • Previous van‑driving experience.
  • Enhanced DBS and social‑media screening may be required due to the nature of the service.
