* Salary: £23.22 per hour
* Location: Derby
* Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
* Till March 2026 with the possibility of extension

1. POST DETAILS
The Mechanical qualification is referring to HVAC

2. PURPOSE OF THE POST

Manage the Councils building and maintenance projects, providing technical specialist advice in Mechanical Building Services Engineering, ensuring that all works are carried out in an efficient manner, setting performance specifications and standards and being responsible for ensuring works meet the required quality standards, including ensuring that the legislative duties under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 are discharged effectively with particular reference to water hygiene and legionella.

4. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 Advisor to the Corporate Landlord: Act as a key advisor to the Corporate Landlord on compliance of the Corporate Estate, in accordance with ISO 55000 International Standards for Asset Management.

4.2 Technical specialist: Provide technical specialist advice in Building Services Engineering (mechanical). Be the Councils technical specialist for mechanical engineering, overseeing compliance, servicing, and projects involving:
* Heating, hot water generation, hot and cold water services (including managing quarterly water hygiene control tasks), air conditioning services, commercial kitchens

Oversee mechanical engineering services and construction project delivery and prepare reports, estimates, specifications, drawings and works schedules for quotations or tendering.

Oversee a programme of lift inspections and ensure that all in use lifts are thoroughly examined by competent person at specified intervals in accordance with legislation, COP's or ot

Skills
Ability to deal with multiple projects and prioritise with confidence under stressful situations. Make a positive, constructive contribution to meetings and discussions, considering the interests of the overall Service area alongside personal objectives. Flexibility in approach, accommodating the needs of the wider service area, adjusting daily priorities to best meet the needs of the wider service area when required
Ability to demonstrate organisational skills including time management
Ability to monitor progress and to meet performance targets, escalating issues or concern in sufficient time before deadlines are missed
Confidence to act-up for the head of Services and Director at meetings and discussions
Embrace and utilise information technology, with specific experience of using asset data management software to ensure compliance
Experience of managing and ensuring building compliance according to regulations, professional guidance and good practice
Experience of managing professional staff, including staff development, performance management and motivational techniques
