Role Purpose
As Quality Control Technician, you will be the final checkpoint before repaired devices are returned to customers. Your role is to verify repairs, ensure compliance with the company's standards, and provide feedback to technicians to drive continuous improvement. You'll monitor quality metrics, investigate recurring issues, and take ownership of ensuring every product meets or exceeds expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Testing
- Perform detailed checks on repaired/refurbished devices (functionality, appearance, compliance with SOPs).
- Validate that all repairs meet the company's quality standards and customer specifications.
- Use diagnostic tools and test scripts to confirm operational integrity.
- Feedback & Continuous Improvement
- Provide constructive feedback to workshop technicians on repair quality and adherence to SOPs.
- Identify trends in defects or rework and collaborate with the Operations Manager to implement corrective actions.
- Contribute to SOP updates and training based on quality findings.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Record inspection results accurately in the stock management system and QC logs.
- Maintain traceability for all devices inspected, including serial/IMEI numbers and test outcomes.
- Generate weekly quality reports and highlight recurring issues or process gaps.
- Customer Assurance
- Ensure all devices are packaged correctly and meet presentation standards before dispatch.
- Act as the gatekeeper for quality - no device leaves the company without your approval.
Key KPIs
- First-time pass rate (target ≥ 98%)
- Reduction in rework and returns
- Timely completion of QC checks within SLA
- Accuracy of QC documentation
Skills & Experience (Essential)
- Previous experience in quality control, technical inspection, or repair validation.
- Strong understanding of electronic devices and diagnostic testing.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies.
- Confident communicator - able to give clear, constructive feedback.
- Competent with Excel and stock management systems for logging and reporting.
- Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience in repairs/refurbishment environments.
- Familiarity with Lean/5S principles and root cause analysis.
- Ability to write or update SOPs.
