Quality control technician Level 1

Located in North Liverpool Bootle we manufacture industrial and commercial inkjet printing, thermal transfer printing, print and apply machines, digital printing presses and laser printing products. Our clients are worldwide we are experts in our sector and recruit the very best people to work with us.

Our team is looking for an experienced Quality Control Technician who has drive, ambition and a strong work ethic able to demonstrate 100% attendance and reliability with a keen eye for detail . The ideal candidate will be working as a member of the Liverpool Fluids Quality Team and alongside the Manufacturing Team, you will be responsible for testing materials, investigating quality issues and will promote Good Manufacturing Practices throughout the site.

Your role will involve testing raw materials, intermediate products and finished goods in accordance with published specifications and reacting to issues that are found to ensure improved performance.

You will also provide support for projects and continuous improvement initiatives to support the Quality Manager, the rest of the Quality team and the overall Domino business.

· Ensure Health and Safety policies and procedures are always adhered to, ensuring that your actions do not place yourself or your colleagues at risk or danger

· Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping in all areas. Complete the weekly SHE checklist if required.

· Record results in a clear manner using both the automated system and written records

· Undertake all tasks as required in accordance with standard Domino working practices and quality procedures

· Demonstrate attitude and behaviours in line with Company values, Leadership Behaviours and expectations set by Line Manager

· Complete annual training requirements, performance and development reviews as well as Individual Development Reviews in line with the company requirements

About you

· HNC/HND or degree level qualification or relevant experience within a laboratory environment is a must

· Previous experience within a fast-paced production laboratory testing environment

· Excellent customer service skills, understanding the needs of key internal and external customers

· Great communication skills, with the ability to understand and solve problems, show empathy with internal and external customer issues and liaise confidently with all team members where appropriate

· Confident to work independently, seeking assistance as and when appropriate

· Flexible and adaptable to react to unexpected tasks or customer demand

· Analytical with great attention to detail

· IT Literate with knowledge of using both Oracle and Microsoft programmes, inc. 365, Word and Excel

Need to know

You will be working with chemicals which may be irritants or sensitizers and other associated risks (fumes come under chemicals)

Deliverables Level 1

Testing - All standard tests - once trained to be completed without supervision. Viscosity, Density, Conductivity, Filtration, GC, Karl Fisher (water content), Draw-down, curing, colour measurement, Surface Tension, pH, FTIR, Particle Size, Colour Density.

6- S - Work tidily and ensure that lab is cleaned down every Friday.

Ensure that Test Methods and SOPs are always followed. Only complete tests that you are trained and signed off to do without supervision.

Quality feedback - Ensure that operators are given feedback on samples - particularly where there is an issue.

Training on lab risk assessment, all basic CIJ and DP Test Methods to be prioritised. Until signed off only complete testing under supervision.

GC and GCMS -Capable of sampling and putting GC samples onto the system.

Identify out of spec batches and make recommendations for additions.

Ensure that non-compliant materials are clearly segregated and identified. Ensure that the wider team are aware.

6 sigma - White belt training to be completed within the first 6 weeks of starting. Work on Yellow belt taking place.

Willingness to learn. Either recent graduate looking for practical experience / application of qualifications, or experience practitioner who is willing to fill knowledge gaps - Eg through degree apprenticeship scheme.

Only sign-off tests which you have been trained and are approved to sign. When complex issues arise, get involved in resolving, but discuss with other team members before agreeing actions.

Recognises internal and external customers and suppliers.

The individual will need to work independently in all areas of the Liverpool site and possibly at times when other staff are not present. For this reason, the individual will have to complete the Aviation Security clearance background checks as set out by the Civil Aviation Authority, which includes a Disclosure and Barring Service check and evidence of work/education positions dating back 5 years. Further checks may be required if there are gaps in work/education history or if the 5 years includes extended periods outside the UK.
