Here at Serco we are looking to recruit a Religious Visitor as part of our vibrant Chaplaincy team, to contribute in such a way as to provide a person-centred care approach, promoting a sense of hope and direction to residents and staff.
As an innovative and forward-thinking Hindu Minister you will provide pastoral care and seek to ensure spiritual welfare of residents and staff. You will provide expert faith advice within the establishment and be responsible for supporting the establishment in ensuring faith groups observe their religious holy days and festivals. You will facilitate faith specific services and be responsible for ensuring and contributing to the delivery of daily statutory duties which include religious induction. You will also be responsible for ensuring and delivering awareness programmes for residents, support with appropriate training for chaplaincy volunteers and take responsibility for your own spiritual health and development, allowing time for private prayer, study and retreat.
As the Hindu Minister you will attend and provide meaningful input into chaplaincy specific meetings and forums, acquire and distribute appropriate religious literature, supplies and materials and seek and establish relationships with various support agencies and community volunteer groups. You'll ensure that chaplaincy facilities and equipment are maintained to the required standard, help in the effective administration of chaplaincy and ensure that all applications and complaints are responded to appropriately and within an acceptable timeframe.
And as the Minister you will contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings including but not limited to Safer Custody, Security and Wing forum work closely with Security and Safer Custody to ensure issues such as Suicide and Self-Harm and Violence Reduction are delivered in line with the DSO's.
What you need to do the role
You will need to have appropriate experience in the delivery of religious services, ideally in a custodial environment that reflects the needs and requirements of the predominant faiths of the resident populations. You will have a proven high level of professionalism and competence in religious leadership and proven experience and skills in pastoral leadership including crisis events.
You must have a working knowledge of other faiths represented within the centre to enable you to work in a multi faith environment and meet specified minimum faith eligibility requirement of your faith tradition and experience working in a similar environment would be advantageous.
This role will require you to work 5 hours per week.
