Full Time - 37.5 hours per week. Permanent, also as & when flexible role available, same T&C's.

Salary: £24,625.00- £25,674.00 depending on experience, agenda for change plus enhancements. Plus, Serco Benefits.

Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Security Officer to join the current team based at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesborough. The Security Team provides a range of security, CCTV and car parking services to the Trust patients, staff visitors, and premises to ensure that all security functions are undertaken in a highly professional, competent, and safe manner.

The security officer is responsible for delivering the Security service in accordance with BS10800 (Provision of Security services- Code of practice, BS 7958 (CCTV- Management and operation code of practice), BS 7499 (Provision of Static Guarding Security Services- Code of practice), BS 7984 (Keyholding Code of Practice), BS 7858 (Vetting and Screening) and BS 7893 (Code of practice for the deployment of Body Worn Video.)

We have various roles available to include a Security Officer.  We are also looking for flexible position with various shift patterns.

Main accountabilities

As the Security Officer you will restrain individuals and assist colleagues in restraining individuals who are threatening to cause harm to Trust patients, staff, visitors, and premises whilst liaising with Trust personnel, police, fire and other emergency services as appropriate. You will Respond to rapid response calls, ad hoc, emergency and routine security requests as and when required. In addition to this you will monitor CCTV equipment, undertake security and car parking patrols and provide escort services as requested to assist NHS colleagues.

Working permanently with core team (role specific) or nominally attached as an as & when role on a designated shift pattern working a shift pattern (4 on 4 off - 12 hours) with the operational agreement and contractual obligation to remain in an as & when role which will require flexibility and the expectation to change shifts to meet the operational requirements of the service provision. This will be managed by the supervisor and any changes are to be relayed within a reasonable timeframe (24 hours). The employee is expected to honour their contracted hours and be available to change their nominal attached shift pattern for the cover of emergency annual leave, long and short-term sickness and any immediate incidents where additional security cover is required as specified by the operations security manager.


What you'll need to do the role

To be successful in the role you will hold a valid and in date Dual frontline SIA licence; holding a CCTV licence is essential. You will have previous experience working within a hospital and/or service environment and will have excellent customer service skills including clear verbal communication and the ability to manage conflict situations calmly and effectively. Ideally, you will have control and restraint methods experience and a good understanding of Health & Safety Procedures.

This is a physical role, and the post-holder will be required to be mobile for most of their working day and will be required to respond to sensitive and priority requests to intervene and deescalate incidents of highly volatile violence and aggression directed at NHS colleagues and visitors.
