Senior Housing Officer needed!!

* Salary: £16 - £18 per hour
* Location: Totnes, TQ9
* Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
* Till October 2025 with the possibility of extension

Job Purpose:
To act as a senior case worker for customers approaching as homeless or in housing need, taking on complex cases and maintaining a high standard of accurate decision making. You will also support the team leader in the development of the team's knowledge base and experience as a whole, demonstrating excellent knowledge of housing law and best practice as well as good level of understanding of wider statutory services that impact on the customer journey. You will be expected to lead on specialist areas alongside other senior officers and represent the council in multi- agency and/or Devon wide focussed work streams. Examples of specialisms include but are not limited to; care leavers and youth homelessness, prison release, domestic abuse, hospital discharge and care act services. The role will also require good levels of administrative and recording skills to ensure support is effective and well documented.

Role Profile:

• To provide a comprehensive housing advice service to customers by exploring housing options in detail, advocating on customers' behalf, offering mediation, attending court hearings or referring to other specialist agencies, as appropriate
• Act as a senior point of call for the team and provide case supervision when needed to support the team Leader
• Proactively model and promote all corporate and service specific expectations to the team - acting as a role model and providing peer support across the service
• To arrange and attend multi agency meetings; representing the Council in discussing clients and their circumstances. This will involve attending operational meetings as required, in particular those in relation to safeguarding, child protection in respect of homeless cases.

Must have experience with: Jigsaw, Devon Home Choice, knowledge of local area around South and West Devon.
