The Service Transition team are the final “gateway” before any new service/product enters into production. As a Service Transition Manager, you will be in the thick of it, working with Service Design Managers and operational leads. Ensuring live service is protected, building support models, running Early Life Support and completing other assurance related activities.
The role of Service Transition Manager is aligned to the ITIL Service Management framework. Therefore, as a Transition Manager, you will work closely with Service Design and various IT Operations teams.
Job description
Responsible for transition scheduling, planning, prioritisation, risk management and dependencies to ensure effective transition across multiple projects and divisions. To ensure the new/updated services/products are supported with the right level of knowledge and documentation. To own issues until a new owner has been found or the problem has been mitigated and/or resolved.
Responsible for ensuring service transition, quality assurance checks are carried out. Adhere to the Department’s service integration processes, Identifying any gaps, abnormalities, or risks.
Ensures development functions within a project produce the required transition deliverables, so that new Services have a fully developed end to end support structure, including Processes, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Operating Level Agreements (OLAs).
Identifies improvements and supports proposed solutions through to implementation. Introduces more effective and efficient technologies to deliver increased automation.
Person specification
When giving details in your employment history and personal statement you should highlight your experience in line with essential criteria below:
ITIL Service Management qualifications - Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL certification: Foundation Level) or equivalent demonstrable experience appropriate to the role of Service Transition Manager.
Experience and a proven track record in managing projects.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication - Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with Service Design Managers, operational leads, and IT Operations teams.
Quality Assurance & Documentation - Attention to detail in ensuring quality assurance checks, documentation, and support models are complete and accurate.
Continuous Improvement & Automation - Ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance service transition efficiency.
