Our main Defra DDTS hubs are in York, Warrington, Newcastle, Reading and Bristol, however the successful candidate may be contractually based at any Defra office.

Job description
The ServiceNow Development Manager acts as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring the effective utilization of the ServiceNow platform to drive business value. You will be at the heart of driving business value to Defra through the delivery of capabilities and services delivered through the ServiceNow platform.
You will join the highly motivated and professional Service Tooling team at a time when business demand on the ServiceNow platform is increasing, managing development activity across multiple ServiceNow Capabilities such as ITSM , ITAM , SPM, CSM, WSD, HRSD and BCM.
The ServiceNow Development Manager oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of ServiceNow solutions within an organisation. They are responsible for managing a team of 14 developers and system administrators, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, and aligning development efforts with strategic goals. Additional responsibilities involves stakeholder management, strategic planning, promoting best practice and driving continuous improvement of the ServiceNow platform.

Responsibilities
Managing development capability of the Service Tooling Team and promoting development best practice and standards.
Leading, coaching, and developing a team of ServiceNow developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Monitoring project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
Contribute to the development and execution of the ServiceNow platform roadmap, aligning it with business needs and technological advancements.
Monitoring project / development progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
Establishing and driving best practices for ServiceNow development, ensuring compliance, and promoting platform standardization in collaboration with the Platform Architects.
Ensure resilience across the ServiceNow development team.
Manage the Out of hours call out rota.
Skills and Experience
A strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform, including its capabilities, architecture, and development best practices.
Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based development environments.
Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide the development team, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders.
Ability to identify and resolve technical challenges, analyse complex issues, and develop innovative solutions.
Experienced in managing complex development activities, including planning, execution, and risk management.
Solid understanding of Integrations of ServiceNow with other software products.
