Sewing Machinist

Blue Arrow are looking for experienced Sewing Machinists, to join our customer located in Billingborough. They specialise in the manufacturing of quality cushion products for the furniture industry.

Sewing Machinists are expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced, repetitive environment necessary in the production of pillows and cushions with accuracy and speed to achieve company expectations necessary to meet and exceed customer demands.

Responsibilities:

To ensure success as a Sewing Machinist, you should display an impeccable awareness of all sewing procedures. An outstanding Sewing Machinist will be able to repair minor problems affecting their equipment.

All Sewing Machinists play a crucial role in meeting our customer requirements and are expected after initial training to perform with minimal supervision. Sewing Machinists may be asked to assist with other duties and work in other departments when needed to meet those requirements.

Knowledge and Skills:

Essential skills

· An experienced lockstitch machinist (any industry) with a clear understanding of how an industrial lockstitch machine operates, to produce high-quality work.

· Experience of overlock and twin needle machinery (desirable).

· A basic knowledge of Health and Safety procedures within the workplace.

· Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

· Prepare an efficient workstation and organise workload to ensure a quick, smooth workflow.

· Ability to work with different fabric types and adjust machine settings accordingly.

· Strong attention to detail and quality orientated.

· Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

· Basic troubleshooting skills for sewing machines.

· Read, interpret, and work to instructions i.e., specifications, standard operating procedures.

· Ability to work as part of a sewing production team or individually, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Other:

· Own transport required.

· The business needs of the Company vary on an ongoing basis, and overtime may be required at short notice.

· Our busy/peak periods will require substantial overtime including extra working days.

· Lead by Example and challenge everything that is not correct and improve on it.
