Dress Code Required: Safety boots, hi‑viz jacket, wet weather gear

Job Overview

We are recruiting Street Cleansing Operatives for a temporary assignment supporting the upkeep of clean, safe and well‑maintained public areas. This is a hands‑on manual labour role involving outdoor work in all weather conditions.

You will play a key part in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and ensuring public spaces remain welcoming for residents, visitors and businesses.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out street cleansing tasks including sweeping, litter‑picking and debris removal.
• Empty public litter bins and replace liners when required.
• Remove waste, fly‑tipping and environmental hazards following safe practices.
• Report issues such as graffiti, damaged street furniture or fly‑posting.
• Operate manual tools and cleansing equipment (training provided where required).
• Follow daily routes, schedules and instructions from supervisors.
• Maintain a high standard of work while representing the service positively to the public.
• Work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

• Ability to carry out physically demanding work.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
• Strong reliability, timekeeping and work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of health & safety in a manual labour environment.
• Previous experience in cleansing, grounds maintenance or labouring is beneficial but not essential.
