With a strong presence in Reading, they are seeking a dedicated and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join their team and take ownership of day-to-day warehouse operations.
Role Summary
As Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the warehouse, ensuring efficient workflows, maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy, and leading a team of operatives. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational demands with team development and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee all warehouse functions including goods-in, storage, order picking, packing, and dispatch
- Monitor and manage daily workflow to meet operational targets and customer expectations
- Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded and inventory levels are maintained
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and motivate a team of warehouse operatives
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities
- Manage shift planning, attendance, and task allocation to optimise productivity
Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce company health and safety policies and ensure compliance with legal regulations
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free working environment
Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance warehouse operations
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline supply chain activities
- Support the implementation of new systems and technologies
Supplier & Logistics Coordination
- Liaise with suppliers, couriers, and logistics partners to ensure timely deliveries and collections
- Resolve delivery discrepancies and escalate issues where necessary
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a warehouse supervisory or team leadership role
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control
- Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
