Blue Arrow are recruiting for reliable and motivated individuals to support waste collection services. This includes covering staff holidays and other absences. This is based in the Scottish Borders, with sites at Galashiels, Hawick and Peebles. The roles can be physically demanding, with a lot of walking involved and require candidates who are able to cope with walking up to 10 miles per day while on shift.
Key Responsibilities
* Load refuse and recycling from individual and communal bins or sacks into collection vehicles.
* Deliver bins, sacks, and related materials.
* Assist with missed bin collections.
* Engage courteously with the public and local businesses.
* Record and report any issues encountered during duties.
* Follow all safety procedures and training guidelines.
* Work effectively as part of a team.
* Perform other duties as directed by supervisors.
* Work outdoors in all weather conditions, involving extensive walking.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Current driving licence.
* Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
* Positive attitude and team spirit.
* Willingness to undertake training and self-development.
* Good interpersonal skills and timekeeping.
* Flexibility to work at different locations.
* Physically able to perform outdoor tasks.
