Metering Advisor

Location: Cardiff (Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week)

Contract: 12 months (Provisional start date 22/06/2026)

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (shifts between 8:30am - 5:30pm)

Pay Rate: £14.79 per hour (PAYE)

Clearance: BPSS required

Interview Process: Competency Based Interview via Teams


About the Role

We are recruiting for a Metering Advisor to join a busy and collaborative team supporting business energy operations. This role focuses on managing metering-related customer requests from start to finish, ensuring a seamless and professional service.

You will be responsible for handling a wide range of metering activities including new connections, upgrades, downgrades, meter exchanges, removals, and meter reads. This is a varied role requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound customer enquiries via phone with professionalism and empathy
  • Manage metering requests from initiation through to completion
  • Process new applications and issue relevant industry flows to third-party agents
  • Liaise with internal teams, network operators, meter operators, and energy consultants
  • Accurately document all interactions and progress within internal systems
  • Handle customer complaints effectively and work towards resolution
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and enhance processes

About You

  • Previous experience in a customer service role (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
  • Confident working both independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive, inquisitive, and able to see tasks through to completion
  • Comfortable using multiple systems and technology platforms
  • Experience within utilities is advantageous, though not essential as training will be provided
