Catering Assistant

About the Role

We are looking to appoint a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team, a welcoming and inclusive primary school. The successful candidate will help prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals to our pupils and contribute to a positive lunchtime experience for young children.

This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working in a school environment and supporting children's wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals for primary-aged children
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen and dining environment
• Washing up and general kitchen cleaning duties
• Supporting the smooth running of the lunchtime service
• Following all food hygiene, health & safety, and school policies
• Interacting with children in a kind, calm, and respectful manner

Person Specification

• A cheerful and approachable manner
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and well organised
• Catering or kitchen experience desirable but not essential (full training provided)
• Understanding of food hygiene standards or willingness to undertake training

Safeguarding & DBS

This post involves regular contact with children and is therefore subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check with a check against the Children's Barred List.
