Catering Assistant (12-Month Temporary Contract)

Location: Durham Care Home

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Contract: 12-Month Temporary Contract

Hours: 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis, including weekends

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our care home team in Durham on a 12-month temporary contract. You will support the catering team in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals and excellent service to our residents, ensuring a positive dining experience that promotes their wellbeing and quality of life.

Shift Pattern

This role operates on a rota basis, working 5 days out of 7, with shifts varying between:

• 07:00 - 14:30
• 07:30 - 15:00
• 11:00 - 18:30

Flexibility to work weekends and all shift patterns is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments.
• Supporting the catering team to provide a high-quality dining experience for residents.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen and dining areas.
• Carrying out washing up and general kitchen duties.
• Following all food safety, health and safety, and infection control procedures.
• Ensuring residents are treated with dignity, respect, and kindness at all times.

Essential Requirements

• Previous catering experience is essential.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high standards of service.
• A caring and professional approach when working in a care home environment.
