Catering Assistant

As a Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in delivering an efficient and welcoming food service for students and staff. Working alongside the catering team, you will help with food preparation, meal service, cleaning duties, and maintaining a safe, clean, and pleasant dining environment. Key Responsibilities

Support the preparation and presentation of meals in line with catering standards and procedures.

Prepare dining areas and ensure food counters remain fully stocked throughout service.

Provide a friendly and professional food service to pupils, staff, and guests.

Assist with the preparation of simple food items including sandwiches, salads, and light refreshments.

Use kitchen equipment safely and correctly in accordance with training provided.

Clear tables promptly and help maintain a clean and welcoming dining area.

Clean crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment, ensuring items are stored appropriately after use.

Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, and health & safety compliance.

Follow all allergen control measures and food safety regulations.

Carry out additional kitchen and catering duties as requested by the Catering Manager.

Skills and Experience

Previous experience within catering, hospitality, or food service is beneficial but not required.

Knowledge of food hygiene practices and excellent customer service standards.

Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.

Strong communication and people skills.

Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced school catering operation.

Qualifications

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate

Enhanced Child DBS Check

Any relevant catering or hospitality qualifications would be advantageous
