Job Description
As a Catering Assistant, you will support the delivery of a high-quality food service for pupils and staff. Working as part of the catering team, you will assist with food preparation, service, cleaning, and ensuring a safe and hygienic dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with company standards.
- Set up and replenish food service counters and dining areas.
- Serve food to pupils, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Prepare basic food items such as sandwiches, salads, and snacks as required.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently following training.
- Clear tables and maintain cleanliness throughout service.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, ensuring all items are stored correctly.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and health and safety.
- Follow allergen management and food safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with general kitchen duties as directed by the Catering Manager.
Skills and Experience
- Previous catering, hospitality, or food service experience is desirable but not essential.
- Understanding of food hygiene and customer service principles.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy school catering environment.
