This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

As IT Service Transition Lead, you’ll transition products into live service, ensuring all are base-lined and documented before release. Working on an advanced IT system, currently being implemented across the Land and Maritime domains, you’ll introduce new or modified services and products, while establishing the necessary virtual and physical teams to support all programme deliverables, throughout the service transition lifecycle.

You’ll manage the transition of changes into the live environment, to ensure that routine and complex changes do not negatively impact the user experience and develop the transition function, collaborating with stakeholders through the design, development, and delivery phases, ensuring all transitional activities are managed appropriately.

You will provide coherence throughout the transition life cycle, hold stakeholders to account and be responsible for producing transition plans, for new or updated products and services.

Responsibilities

Make recommendations on go-live, early life support and service acceptance.

 

Ensure all products are properly base-lined and documented.

 

Analyse and assess the impact of change, document change requests and action changes.

 

Establish the Transition Management function and draft the terms of reference necessary to formalise transition as a programme function.

 

Day to day management of product acceptance, determining whether the product is fit for purpose, assessing readiness against agreed service acceptance criteria.

 

Developing and agreeing on the operational readiness check for each change and conducting the operational readiness review for each change.

Person specification

Please ensure that your CV and application meet the essential criteria below.

We would expect to see relevant skills and experience in IT service transition and project management.

You’ll need the ability to work under pressure and able to prioritise daily tasks effectively. You’ll need to use your initiative and strong information retention skills, to quickly identify issues and develop solutions to ensure smooth transitions.

ITILv4 qualification

Additional information

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station, which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this).  If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post. Whilst embracing hybrid working, there is an expectation you will attend the office at least 3 days a week.

Dependent on the business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits).

Qualifications

ITIL v3 Practitioner qualification or higher.
