Spire Cardiff Hospital is looking for an experienced and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our hardworking Outpatients team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and varied Outpatients department within one of the UK's leading independent healthcare providers. Working alongside experienced nurses, consultants and multidisciplinary teams, you'll support a wide range of clinics and play an important role in delivering a positive experience for every patient who visits the hospital.

About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality care across our Outpatients department, working closely with nurses, consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team.

You'll assist with a variety of clinical activities including patient observations, ECGs, phlebotomy and preparing patients for appointments and procedures. You'll also help maintain a safe, efficient and welcoming environment, ensuring patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their time with us.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Outpatients team in the provision of exemplary patient care
  • Support and monitor patients during their visit to the department
  • Undertake patient observations, including blood pressure monitoring and other routine assessments
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures
  • Carry out ECG recordings
  • Identify and report any significant changes that may affect a patient's health and wellbeing
  • Assist with the safe movement and positioning of patients in line with hospital policies and procedures
  • Prepare and maintain clinical areas to ensure they are clean, safe and ready for use
  • Support consultants, nurses and other healthcare professionals during clinics and procedures
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the Outpatients department

Who we're looking for

  • Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a hospital environment is essential
  • Experience within an Outpatients department is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A compassionate and professional approach to patient care
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Reliable, organised and able to prioritise workload effectively
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is desirable
  • Experience undertaking patient observations and blood pressure monitoring is essential
  • Experience in phlebotomy and ECGs is highly desirable
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of care, safety and customer service

Contract: Permanent

Days/Hours: Part Time, 20 hours per week, between Monday to Friday 08:00 - 20:30 and Saturday 08:00 - 13:00
