Theatre Practitioner/ODP | Recovery/Anaesthetics | Spire Shawfair Park Hospital | Permanent | Full and Part-Time Hours Available | Excellent Salary and Benefits Package


Spire Shawfair Park Hospital is seeking an experienced Theatre Practitioner or ODP to join our theatre team. We are particularly interested in candidates with Recovery experience.

We welcome applications from candidates with substantial Recovery experience. Although dual-trained Anaesthetic and Recovery practitioners are preferred, candidates wishing to work exclusively within Recovery are encouraged to apply.

Located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Spire Shawfair Park Hospital is a purpose-built private hospital offering a wide range of diagnostic, surgical and outpatient services. The hospital is equipped with modern facilities and advanced technology, providing colleagues with an excellent environment in which to develop their careers whilst delivering exceptional standards of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide high-quality post-anaesthetic care within the Recovery Unit.
Monitor, assess and care for patients during the immediate post-operative period.
Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
Work collaboratively with Anaesthetic, Surgical and Theatre teams to ensure safe, effective patient care.
Where appropriately trained, support Anaesthetic duties within theatres.
Contribute to maintaining high clinical standards, patient safety and infection prevention practices.

Who We're Looking For

Essential

  • HCPC-registered ODP or NMC-registered Nurse.
  • Recent experience working within a Recovery/PACU environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Dual-trained experience in Anaesthetics or scrub
  • Experience within an independent healthcare setting.
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) qualification.
