Spire St Anthony's Hospital has an exciting new opportunity for a Pre-Operative Assessment Nurse to join our well-established team on an Fixed Term Contract.
Founded in 1904, Spire St Anthony's Hospital delivers care through skilled and dedicated staff working together. With a completed £27m development investment, we provide very high quality healthcare to patients around Sutton, Epsom, Surrey and South London.
Our multispecialty unit will give you the opportunity to expand your skills and expertise. We have six operating theatres covering a wide range of specialities and procedures including Ortho, Gynae, Cardio-thoracic and many other surgical specialties.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To provide exemplary planned care for patients and assist in the management and organisation of care provision in a variety of hospital settings
- To provide all patient pre-assessments, liaising as appropriate with other clinical professionals e.g. Consultants, anaesthetists etc. To provide clinical expertise of the highest calibre to ensure the highest standards of nursing care are consistently provided to all patients attending the pre-assessment department.
- Assess patients' health and wellbeing across a complex and changing caseload.
- Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals' health and wellbeing needs
- Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
- Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others.
- Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.
- Assist in maintaining and developing services.
- Contribute to quality improvement.
- Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
- Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.
Who we're looking for:
- Be NMC registered - your pin should not have any restrictions or conditions
- Pre-Assessment experience is essential
- Compassionate and able to showcase excellent patient care
- Strong communication skills
