Spire Norwich Hospital is seeking a motivated and passionate Orthopaedic Theatre Team Leader to join our high-performing theatre department.

As Orthopaedic Theatre Team Leader, you'll play a key role in maintaining our high clinical standards while supporting and developing a talented multidisciplinary team.



Duties and responsibilities
As a Theatre Team Leader, you will support the Theatre Manager in leading the day-to-day running of the department while remaining clinically active within the theatre environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting a team of Theatre Practitioners, ODPs, and Registered Nurses.
- Promoting a positive, high-performing, and patient-focused culture within the department.
- Supporting recruitment, supervision, appraisal, and development of theatre colleagues.
- Identifying training needs and implementing development plans.
- Acting as a clinical role model through the delivery of outstanding patient care.
- Supporting and mentoring junior staff and students.
- Preparing theatres, instrumentation, equipment, and consumables for orthopaedic procedures.
- Ensuring the safe and efficient utilisation of resources while minimising waste.
- Assessing patients throughout the perioperative pathway.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualised care plans.
- Managing a complex and changing clinical workload while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
- Contributing to service improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of the theatre department.

Who We're Looking For We are looking for an enthusiastic and clinically credible leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and supporting team development.
Essential - Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
- Current NMC or HCPC registration.
- Minimum 2 years' Orthopaedic Scrub experience.
- Strong clinical knowledge within perioperative practice.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Passion for developing colleagues and driving clinical excellence.
Desirable - Previous leadership, team leader, or mentoring experience.
- Surgical First Assistant (SFA) qualification.
- Experience supporting service improvement initiatives and practice development.

Working Hours Full Time | Permanent
Monday to Saturday service
Shift patterns include:
- 7:30am - 6:00pm
- 12:30pm - 9:00pm
- 7:30am - 9:00pm
