Catering Supervisor - NHS (Newcastle upon Tyne)

- Temporary ongoing with Blue Arrow
- Opportunity to become permanent after 12 weeks
Pay Rates
- Monday-Friday: £13.60 per hour
- Saturday: £17.22 per hour
- Sunday: £21.55 per hour
Role Overview
A hands‑on supervisory position responsible for leading a catering shift within a hospital environment. The role focuses on food production and service, food hygiene and safety standards, quality control, and staff supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise catering staff during shifts
- Prepare, cook, plate, and serve meals to patients
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, HACCP, and Health & Safety
- Manage staff rotas and cover staffing issues
- Monitor stock levels and reduce food waste
- Ensure a clean, professional, and safe working environment
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds 706/2 in Food Preparation
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to complete within 4 weeks)
- Basic IT skills (Word and Excel)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a hot environment
- Reliable, flexible, and customer‑focused
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience in large‑scale catering
- Knowledge of HACCP and allergen awareness
- Previous supervisory or management experience
