Role Overview
This role plays a key part in delivering high‑quality, nutritious meals that support busy and active days. The successful candidate will join a well‑established and supportive catering team, working closely with the Head Chef to maintain consistently high standards of food service.
The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for large numbers, without the pressure of menu design or sourcing ingredients independently. With minimal late nights, most weeks offering either a Friday or Saturday evening off, and limited working over the Christmas period, this role offers an excellent work-life balance. On‑site accommodation is available, making this an ideal opportunity for those looking to relocate or reduce commuting time.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking nutritious, high‑quality meals to a consistently high standard
- Supporting the day‑to‑day operation of the kitchen
- Managing stock control, ordering, and cost awareness
- Ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene, allergen, and dietary requirements
- Supporting, coaching, and mentoring junior kitchen team members
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience as a Chef or caterer, ideally within a high‑volume kitchen environment
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management, and dietary requirements
- Be well organised, reliable, and able to remain calm under pressure
- Take a positive, professional, and team‑focused approach at all times
Desirable
- Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
- Previous experience supporting or mentoring junior staff
