Our client, a well-established and highly regarded 3-star hotel with a busy restaurant, bar, and events operation, is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead its kitchen team and drive the food offering to the next level.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented culinary professional to take ownership of a thriving kitchen operation, develop seasonal menus, mentor a dedicated brigade, and play a key role in the continued success of a hospitality business renowned for its warm service and quality dining experience.

The Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall management of the kitchen, ensuring the delivery of consistently high-quality food across all service areas, including the restaurant, lounge, private dining, conferences, and special events.

You will work closely with senior management to enhance the guest experience while maintaining strong commercial performance through effective cost control and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the kitchen brigade, creating a positive and high-performing team culture.
• Design and implement creative, seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients where possible.
• Ensure exceptional standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
• Manage stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships.
• Control food costs, waste, and kitchen labour budgets to maximise profitability.
• Maintain full compliance with food hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety regulations.
• Recruit, train, and develop kitchen team members.
• Oversee food production for weddings, functions, conferences, and special events.
• Collaborate with management to develop new food concepts and revenue opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

• Previous experience as a Head Chef or an experienced Senior Sous Chef ready to take the next step.
• A strong background within hotels, branded hospitality, or quality restaurant environments.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
• Sound commercial awareness with experience managing kitchen budgets and food GP.
• A passion for fresh food and menu development.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of food safety legislation and industry best practice.
• The ability to perform under pressure while maintaining high standards.

Initially this will be a temporary position with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

Hours of work:

Shifts between 730am & 930pm and may include split shifts.

Rate of pay - £17.50 per hour

Weekly pay

Due to the location of the hotel, access to your own transport is preferrable.
